Muslim Aid has established three Rainbow- Child development centers in Lahore and Islamabad. In Lahore Shahdara, Green Town were selected to establish these centres and Tarnol, Islamabad is another area in the focus of Muslim Aid .
In these clusters Muslim Aid is arranging curricular and extra-curricular activities for the personality development of the children. Assistant Officer Rainbow Family Programme, Seemab Akhtar said that establishment of three new educational centres are the steps to achieve Millinium Development Goals (MDGs). Muslim Aid would continue its support for enhancing the literacy rate in the community, she added.
Meanwhile, Muslim Aid conducted baseline survey of Not-School Going Children (NSGC) in Murree, which successfully ended with identification of 42 NSGC in five villages Al-Badar Colony and Manga(UC Trait), Trairy and Abbasi Mor (UC Gohara Gali), Lower Masyari(UC Masyari) after visiting 275 households. During this activity community was also involved and its support was assessed through survey for enrolment of NSGC.
Eight principals of different schools pledged their full support for enrolment of such NSGC, which are out of school due to economic constraints. This support includes 16 full fee scholarships for one year. 30 parents/ guardians were mobilized to provide syllabus to their child.
Muslim Aid announced provision of school kits to deserving children. To improve and supervise enrolled childrens’ educational progress, three community education committees are formed in three villages. This intervention of MAP for community development is appreciated by community, said Junaid Jadoon.
