2013

The History Of Muslim Aid

Conflicts erupt in Myanmar leaving over 115,000 people displaced – amongst the first on the ground, Muslim Aid open an office in Sittwe, Myanmar to implement long-term development programmes that will help those affected.

2012

The History Of Muslim Aid

Somalia is hit by its worst drought in 60 years – Muslim Aid launch an emergency appeal that reaches around 1 million of those affected, with food packs, healthcare, water, education and counselling.

2011

The History Of Muslim Aid

Muslim Aid raises over £350,000 in response to a devastating earthquake in Haiti. After providing much needed emergency relief, long-term sustainable development projects begin.

2010

The History Of Muslim Aid

Muslim Aid launches an ambitious fundraising programme to help those affected by Israeli airstrikes on Gaza. The appeal raises over 2.3 million and enables Muslim Aid to step up relief work in the area.

2009

The History Of Muslim Aid

Muslim Aid delivers emergency relief for some of the 2 million people suffering after Cyclone Nargis, Myanmar. A major school come cyclone shelter is built during long-term rehabilitation. In a continued effort to support Internally Displaced People (IDPs) in Sri Lanka, Muslim Aid and partners work to resettle hundreds of families in temporary shelters, whilst also providing safe water. 

2008

The History Of Muslim Aid

The tenth Muslim Aid office is opened in Cambodia, running orphan care, Qurbani and Microfinance programmes.Muslim Aid Chairman, Farooq Murad and UMCOR (US based United Methodist Committee on relief) President, Reverend R. Randy Day, sign an official partnership agreement in the presence of Stephen Timms (MP), at the House of Commons, London. The Asian development bank (ADB) and Muslim Aid begin a joint 2.5million housing programme for Tsunami affected areas in Aceh, Indonesia.  Muslim Aid are awarded the Investors in People Award for excellence in corporate vision.

2007

The History Of Muslim Aid

Muslim Aid’s Lebanon Appeal raises over £700,000 for emergency relief and support for civilians who had previously suffered from Israeli air strikes.A country office is set up in Bosnia to further ensure programmes are delivered efficiently and resources are mobilised effectively. Muslim Aid forms an historic partnership with the World Bank and a multi-donor trust fund to deliver a $6.8 million flood mitigation project in Indonesia.

2006

The History Of Muslim Aid

Offices are set up in Sri Lanka and Indonesia to increase Muslim Aid’s capability to implement long-term Tsunami rehabilitation programmes in Indonesia, Somalia and India. A devastating earthquake hits Northern Pakistan – Muslim Aid develops an extensive emergency relief programme and plans for long-term sustainable projects. Many emergency camps are set up to care for displaced people.
